Mr. Acosta

Dear Mr Acosta I want to thank you for all the things and sacrifices you did, do and will be doing for me. i want to thank you for loving me and never giving up on me  even when I am most certainly the biggest pain in the ass that you could’ve ever imagined. I want to thank you for being so patient with me, especially when I’m being stubborn (90 percent of the time) and refuses to admit I’m wrong (even though I know i definitely am). I want to thank you for making time for me, when I know you would rather be playing video games (gears of war) I want to thank you for every single chick flick you’ve ever sat through with me, and actually acting like you care that they fell in love and lived happily ever after.  (but admit it you like "the notebook" and want to watch it again.. lol ) I want to thank you for enduring the emotional roller coaster that PMS takes me on every single month, and not calling me a psychopath in the process. I want to thank you for every time you tell me ...

Success Through my Eyes

Success, a term wanted by everyone but only achieved by some. I often hear people say achieving your goals are as impossible as an ant carrying an elephant. In my 27 years of existence, I learned that success all boils down to how badly you want it. The journey towards success isn't always an eye candy. The first step in following your dreams isn't always the easiest. Careful planning and researching is needed in order to make the big step. It is always not easy to have trial and errors and experiencing the consequences that might arise from your choice. It maybe difficult but it is never impossible. Taking the big step is the hardest part, You would be giving up most of the things at your comfort zone. Adjustment is undeniably hard but if you fix your eyes on the things that you will gain as a replacement of the things that left, You would know its the right choice. In order to gain more, you should lose some. It is only for people who know when and how to take a risk....

When in Denmark

Pictures are what people perceive things to be but the painful reality behind the camera is hidden. I only lasted for 4 months in there because I know if I stay, I will go crazy. Don't get me wrong, the scenery was great, the salary was superb and most people are smiling (at least as what I see they are). After I fell on my knees from my Canada experience, I still did not give up on my dreams to see the world. I heard about a school that supports students to work and study in Norway. I told my mom i want to try and she agreed. I studied Norwegian language and I was proud to say that I am somewhat fluent in speaking the language. I took registration as a nursing assistant in Norway and was approved and gained registration there. After a year, Norway closed its gates for immigrants ( another half million pesos wasted). Norway become very strict. Another unfortunate event in my life but I seem to think a blessing in disguise. A friend of mine endorsed me to apply to a certain si...

Back to Miami

A month of unforgettable fantastic fairy tale moments and now I am back to reality. Back to the suburbs of adulthood, the unfathomable reality of life. I've been on a brim since I got back, trying to prepare for the unforeseeable future that lies ahead. I am quite aware how the future is ever changing and it never goes as planned .. and it never will.. A friend of mine once said that we should decide things as they are. That we decide important things when the probability of it being there is evident, but I can't. Through a very painful experience, I honestly learned my ultimate lesson. I do not want to go too down in dumps anymore where the probability of drowning is anticipated.  People ask me why I have a lot of questions.. why I think a lot.. why I want to plan for the unforeseeable things.. Simple, because you did not experience the way I did.. When I planned to travel to Canada in the hopes of seeing the world and to study, I never had "what ifs" on ...

The Grandmother

It was my first time to meet the long lost sibling of my grandmother when I came to the US. I heard many bad things about her just before I met her. Strict, hard to handle,anti-Filipino are just some of the not so good things I hear from my relatives about her until I finally met her one day. She seemed to be very calm, understanding, harmless the first time I laid my eyes on her. Little did I know that the saying "First impression lasts" is the total antipode of it. When she moved from Texas to our place in Miami, All the good things I thought was in her turned into a nightmare. I began to understand the truth behind "you can never truly know a person unless you live with them". The angel, I once saw in her transformed into something else. She seem to hate the country where she is born, " the Philippines", She refuses to talk using our dialect because She said she had lived here in America for more than 20 years and that she forgot her native tong...

Emptiness

Did you ever had that feeling wherein you wake up in the morning and suddenly felt that emptiness without any reason at all? And then you began to pause and think about your life and at what point are you in? Where are you headed? What are your goals? That is what I feel at the moment. The feeling of emptiness cannot be explained by logic but you just feel it. It seemed like you are trapped on a very dark cave, alone and without a light. Unloved, alone and without someone to talk to. I do not know if this is homesickness, missing my family, missing company, or that maybe, it is because of the gloomy weather. For whatever unknown reason it is, it caught me. Maybe, just maybe.. I miss home. I miss being loved by my family and those warm hugs and kisses I get from them, an inevitable dilemma that I should endure.

Living Abroad

I came from the Philippines. Just the summer of last year, I flew to Denmark for work opportunities. I transferred in the US thereafter for a better work offer. I don't know if this is normal or not but I seem to miss my country every now and then. The simplicity of life in my hometown is irreplaceable. However, staying and going back to the Philippines would not be an option for me right now because it would never feel the same. For the reason that, living abroad is one of the most satisfying and challenging things a person can do. It altered the core of who I thought I was and who I am now. Living abroad changed me. It changed me to a person I once were. Living outside my comfort zone is the most profound undertaking I had ever done yet the most rewarding. The scenery changes, people change, the food menu is different and the climate is unpredictable. Everything and Everyone I once knew were gone. I grew, evolved and moved on. I faced setbacks and dealt with them on my own a...
